Rome, January 3 – Valid from December 31 last year legal decree n. 229/2021, approved by the Council of Ministers on the proposal of the President Mario Draghi and the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza, on new urgent measures to limit the spread of the Covid epidemic 19 and provisions on health surveillance, published on December 30, 2021 in Government Gazette no. 309. The main measures, as widely reported in the press earlier this year, concern the enhanced green pass, the use of which extends and extends to a range of outdoor activities from 10 January 2022 until the end of the state of emergency. The “super” green certificate will also be required for access to and use of means of transport, including local or regional public transport.

As of December 31, 2021, the decree provides that preventive quarantine does not apply to those who have had close contact with persons confirmed positive for Covid-19 within 120 days of the completion of the initial vaccination cycle or recovery and after the booster dose. . Until the tenth day after the last exposure to the case, these individuals are required to wear Ffp2-type respiratory protection devices and perform – only if accidental – a rapid or molecular antigen test.

Also on December 30, the General Directorate of Health Prevention of the Ministry of Health issued a circular to provide the necessary updates on measures of quarantine and isolation recommended in the light of the evolution and spread of the Omicron variant in the national territory. It clarifies, inter alia, that for asymptomatic individuals who have received the booster dose, or have completed the initial vaccination within the previous 120 days or have recovered from Sars CoV 2 infection in the past 120 days, quarantine does not apply, even if they are required to wear Ffp2 respirators “For at least 10 days from the last exposure to the case.
